Preparation of training materials for microbial data are in progress for the BPA AMR/RDS Omics projects. A “Workshop for Microbial Genomics” has been developed to introduce key tools. This covers the basics of using the Galaxy analysis platform, genome assembly with Spades and Velvet, genome annotation with Prokka, and Variant calling with Snippy. Analysis results are then interpreted with the JBrowse tool. The workshop includes a training data set of a reference genome and FASTQ read files.
This workshop was been successfully presented at a recent international conference for the Galaxy platform, by Simon Gladman and other VLSCI staff. Feedback was highly positive from both participants and organizers.
Training will now be developed for more complex analyses in microbial genomics, transcriptomics, and beyond. The current set of training materials is deployed here.
